7 Day Post-Vacation Cleanse

When on vacation, you should drink as many piña coladas as you want and eat cheese and bread until you hate yourself. Vacation is NOT for dieting, unless dieting on vacation is your jam in which case you do you. But for me, I binge eat and binge drink the second I leave Colorado because thats what our founding fathers would’ve wanted. But when I get back, I feel pretty gross and ready to get back to not feeling so bloated from all the salt rims from the margaritas and tortilla chips. I used to always do this 7 day cleanse back when I was traveling all over Europe, and I’m bringing it back because I used to love it!
7 Day Post-Vacation Cleanse

The rules of this cleanse are pretty simple. The idea is to cute out everything bad and minimize what you are eating to fruit, veggies, and lean protein while drinking a ton of water.
Here’s what your day is looking like:

Waking Up: BIG glass of Lemon Ice Water and Cup of Green Tea or Black Coffee if you, like me, are addicted to caffeine.
Breakfast: Eggs + Avocado + Veggies anyway you want to make it. My favorite way is over medium egg on a bed of spinach with chopped tomatoes and avocado with a little hot sauce for a kick
Lunch: A Green Smoothie with almond milk. My favorite recipes are this one, this one, and this one. When I want something with a little more protein to fill me up, I make a PB&J smoothie, but just include spinach. The recipes consists of almond milk, frozen banana, frozen strawberries, spinach, peanut butter (or PB2), and collagen powder. I do a scoop of collagen powder in all my smoothies, if you want to read more about that, I wrote a post about it here.

Mid-Day Snack: Nuts + Fruit. I do one serving of almonds or pistachios, and then a cup or two of either cherries or watermelon. I pretty much need a snack every day around 3-4 at work, so it’s great to have these portioned out in reusable containers. If my favorites aren’t your jam, any unseasoned nuts and any cup of fruit will do! Just make sure you read the label on the nuts to see the portion size, it’s usually way less than you think,Dinner: Veggies + Lean Protein.

This can come in pretty much any form you want to do. It can be a salad or grilled veggies with a chicken breast, or anything else! Just make sure you don’t add dairy, sugar, or grains to any of these recipes!
The Rules To Follow:

  • NO Dairy
  • NO Grains
  • NO sugar (except for fruit for smoothies and snacks)
  • Have a glass of ice water with every meal you eat
  • Try to avoid eating over regular portion sizes
  • If you’re still super hungry, only reach for fruit or veggies for a snack
  • NO drinks except for water, unsweetened tea, and black coffee
  • NO Alcohol

By day 7 you will seriously be feeling a million times better. This can be done before vacation as well, or really any time when you need a little kick into eating healthy again. Make sure when you stop the cleanse to slowly ease back in to eating grains, dairy, and sugar, once you stop eating these things, your body doesn’t like them to much when you start again… which is probably telling that we should minimize eating these things, but I love a good cheese board, so…
